Andrew Hallam : Millionaire Teacher & Millionaire Expat

My name is Andrew Hallam. They call me the Millionaire Teacher.

I am the author of two best selling books - Millionaire Teacher and Millionaire Expat.

I used to be a high school teacher.  Now, I travel the world with my wife, Pele, teaching others to achieve financial independence.

When I was in my late 30s, I had built a one million dollar investment portfolio – on a high school teacher’s salary.

I was careful with my spending. And I invested my money carefully  in the stock market.

To share what I had learned,  in 2011, I wrote my first book, Millionaire Teacher: The Nine Rules of Wealth You Should Have Learned in School.

Millionaire Teacher became an international best seller and has been translated into many languages.

The good news is, you don’t have to follow the stock market or read the dull financial pages of The Wall Street Journal.

The investment strategies I share take less than one hour a year.

Then after writing Millionaire Teacher, I realized there was a different need.

Most of the world’s 200 million expats float in stormy seas. Few can contribute to their home country social programs.

They’re often forced to fend for themselves when they retire.

In 2015 I wrote a book that was The Global Expatriate’s Guide To Investing. When read with Millionaire Teacher, it was the world’s only books showing expats how to build wealth overseas with index funds.

It also was a success. The second edition was updated and re-titled as: Millionaire Expat: How to build Wealth Living Overseas.

But Millionaire Expat a guide for everyone, no matter where you are from. Warren Buffett says you should buy index funds and Nobel prize winners agree.

But dangers lurk. Financial advisors overseas can be as hungry as sharks. They don’t play by the same set of rules. They would rather earn whopping commissions than follow solid financial principles.

Millionaire Expat shows how to avoid these sharks in suits.

It explains how to find an honest financial advisor: one that invests with index funds instead of commission paying windfalls.

You don’t want an advisor? Fair enough!

I show three cutting edge index fund strategies.I compares costs and services of different brokerages, whether in the U.S. or offshore.

And I show every nationality how to invest in the best products for them.

Some people want stability. Some want strong growth. Others want a dash of both.

This book also answers the following questions:

  • How much money do I need to retire?
  • How much should I be saving each month?
  • What investments will give me both strong returns, and safety?

Millionaire Expat: How to build Wealth Living Overseas by Andrew Hallam also profiles real expats and their stories.

It shows the mistakes and successes that they want others to learn from.

It’s a humorous book. And it demonstrates how you can make the best of your hard-earned money.

As a teacher and expatriate, I’m hoping my books can help you.
